What is a CSA

CSA – Community Supported Agriculture - is a member model whereby local farmers and local eaters make a dedicated commitment to one another through a shared-risk model and active engagement. Members support the whole farm through subscribing to seasonal shares. Some or all of this payment is upfront, much like a farm’s costs of production. Membership provides better planning for the farms, maximizi1ng potential and minimizing risk and waste. The farmers work hard to provide the best, freshest, seasonal variety of produce each week and commit to building a deeper relationship with their members. Together every week, we elevate and enjoy healthy food, resilient community, and successful, viable farm systems while caring for the planet.  In addition to offering our primary CSA share of vegetables, we offer a variety of add-on shares for those looking to source milk, eggs, meat and other items from local farms.

Our Partner, Love is Love Cooperative Farms

The Martin family (owners of Martin’s Garden) have known the Love is Love principal farmers for over a decade now.  During our early beginnings when we initially bought our land and were trying to figure “this whole farming thing” out, we attended our first Georgia Organics conference and met the humble and legendary Joe Reynolds, who was both the board chair and the preeminent organic CSA farmer in the Atlanta area.  In 2021, Joe and his team spread the love to include other farmers and purchased more acreage (70 acres) in Mansfield , Georgia.   We have an incredible amount of respect for Love is Love Cooperative, the quality of their vegetables and the heart and soul they bring each and every day to the world of agriculture and those they feed and care for.

What Can I Expect with the CSA

Love is Love Cooperative Farm grows a wide range of delicious produce each week for our members. Now in their 18th year of CSA farming, Love is Love Co-op Farm excels at growing with organic practices to deliver incredibly delicious vegetables that are picked at the peak of freshness and harvested within days of your pick-up. Each week for a 12 week period from September 1st through November 17th, your CSA share will include approximately 7 items. Typical late Summer and Fall crops include Arugula, Asian greens, beans, beets, braising greens, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, chard, cherry tomatoes, edamame, eggplant, endive, fall squash, fennel, garlic, herbs, kale, lettuces, muscadines, okra, pac choy, peanuts, potatoes, radishes, shiitake mushrooms, spicy greens mix, shishito peppers, sweet basil, sweet onions, sweet peppers, sweet potatoes, sunflower shoots, and turnips.

CSA MEMBERSHIP COSTS AND OPTIONS

The season subscription cost for the 12-week Spring session is $510.   

additional subscription add-ons: In addition to their wonderful vegetables, we are pleased to offer the following options for subscription add-ons from local farms:

Local Meat (two options): Bi-weekly deliveries (6 weeks) from local, sustainable grass-fed beef and pastured pork meat producers including Riverview Farms, Carbine United Farms, Local Lands and Rose Creek. Two options exist.  All meat comes frozen.  

  • The Good Meat Share includes a rotation of ground beef, ground pork sausages and pork chops. ($135)

  • The Premium Cuts Meat Share will include the delicious bi-weekly Good Meat Share plus premium cuts bacon, pork roasts, and artisanal sausage links. ($270)

Eggs from Local, Sustainable Egg Producers: Bi-weekly (6 weeks) delivery of a full dozen eggs from partner farms including Rise n’ Shine Farm, Caribe United Farms, and No Mad Hens. ($60)

Rock House Creamery Milk: Bi-weekly deliveries (6 weeks) featuring Grade A whole milk from Rock House Creamery in Newborn, Georgia. This is creamline whole milk, which means the milk is produced with no homogenization, using low-temp pasteurization resulting in rich milk packed full of flavor and nutrition. ($28.50/half gallon each week or $57/gallon each week)

Calyroad Creamery Chevre Cheese: Bi-weekly deliveries (6 weeks) featuring 6 oz. chevre (goat) cheeses ($48)

Cafe Campesino Las Diosas Coffee: Bi-weekly deliveries (6 weeks) of fresh roasted, certified organic specialty coffee from the woman-owned and managed Las Diosas (The Goddesses) cooperative in Esteli, Nicaragua. Coffee bags are 1 lb and can be ordered whole bean or ground. Coffee is fair-trade and ethically sourced by Georgia roasters and cooperative coffee supporters, Cafe Campesino, in Americus, GA. ($120)

Peanut Butter: Tri-Weekly deliveries (4 weeks) of10-oz produced peanut butter by Koinonia Farm (Americus) using roasted organic peanuts. Please note: While the only ingredient is certified organic peanuts, Koinonia Farm is not a certified organic processor. Peanut Butter Shares are distributed every three weeks for a total of 4 distributions during the 12-week CSA period. ($48)

Rice from Anson Mills: Tri-Weekly deliveries (4 weeks) of 14-oz. bags of rice from Anson Mills in Columbia, South Carolina. The selection will rotate between Carolina Gold Rice and Charleston Gold Brown Rice, both new crop, heirloom grains. ($40)

NEW! Herbal Teas from Stellar Roots: Tri-Weekly deliveries (4 weeks) of teas from certified organic medicinal herb farm in Tiger, GA.  Loose-leaf tea blends of top-quality herbs.  Share will include Tulsi tea, Nettle-Mint infusion, Tension-Relief Tea. ($60)

SESSION DATES/PICK-UP:

This year’s CSA session runs from September 1st – November 17th. Pick-up is once a week on Tuesdays either at the farm (410 Coleman Road, Roswell, GA) between 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm or at From the Earth Brewery from 5:30 pm - 8 pm. Free Delivery will also be available to Inverness (all three subdivisions) residents. Deadline for sign up is August 28th. *If you have missed the deadline, there may be an opportunity for a shorter prorated season if you inquire by emailing Martinsgardenacf@gmail.com.
